Joshua Navarro

Joshua Navarro has joined Smith Eilers as an Associate Attorney, where he will utilize his unique legal experience to bolster both the Business Litigation and Securities practice areas of the firm.

Prior to joining the firm, Josh gained well-rounded experience in a variety of practice areas. He began his career as a Public Defender for Broward County, where he won several jury trials and honed his skills in motion argument. Josh then moved on to the civil side of law, where he has substantial litigation experience in the fields of insurance, personal injury, and commercial disputes. Josh also has substantial experience in the burgeoning hemp and cannabis sector, working as a consultant to a variety of businesses, individuals, and nonprofits for regulatory compliance.

At Smith Eilers, Josh is working to extend his experience as a civil litigator in shipping and Transportation law. This includes all aspects of litigation in a federal case, from pre-suit negotiations and settlements on behalf of our clients, and being knowledgeable about the specific applications of the Carmack Amendment.  As part of the Securities and Transactional Law practice, he is adding breadth and depth to his understanding of SEC filings, 144 opinions, and mergers and acquisitions. Josh also enjoys the multidimensional aspect of general counsel work done at Smith Eilers, in which the firm provides assistance to clients in meeting challenges requiring a broad range of legal knowledge.

Josh attended the University of Kentucky receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government, then earning his J.D. at University of Miami School of Law,  before being admitted to practice in the State of Florida. He is also admitted to practice in federal court in both the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Josh is originally from rural Virginia, but was lured to South Florida by the weather and exciting atmosphere. In his free time, he enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, watching and going to sports events, and relaxing at the beach. He also enjoys television and movies, and vows to watch all movies listed on the American Film Institute’s 100 best films list.
